AGRA FORT

              Agra fort is the most important fort of India. Agra Fort built by the great Mughal Emperor Akbar between 1565-1573 on the right bank of the Yamuna.  Agra fort is also known as the Red fort. Agra fort stretches for almost 2.5 km. It is just two(2) kilometers away from Taj Mahal. The great mughals: Babur, Humayun, Akbar, Jahangir, Shah Jehan andAurangzeb lived here and country was governed from here.

This massive fort is creating by four successive emperors Akbar, Jehangir, Shah Jahan and Aurangzeb – each making a beautiful addition after the other. Most part of the fort is made by red stone, Mughal emperor Akbar choice of red stone for making this fort. The white marble palaces added later by his grandson Shah Jahan later. This a place where Shah Jahan was held captive by his own son Aurangzeb. Taj mahal is the nearest place to this fort by which Shah jahan spend his last days in Agra fort by seeing Taj mahal.

 The fort had originally four gates, two of which were later destroy, Now 2 gates are on Fort 

       1. Delhi gate - Delhi gate is now closed for guests.
      2.  Amar Singh Gate – The Amar Singh Gate also known as Amar Singh Darwaza. Visitors are permitted entry by means of this gate only.

Important Monuments inside Red Fort:- 

1. Jahangir Mahal  - the Jahangiri Mahal built by Akbar for his wife Jodha Bai. It is built of stone.

2. Jodha Bai's Palace- To the correct of Jehangir Mahal.  This palace is made for  Akbar's favorite queen Jodha Bai's Palace

3. Anguri Bagh – It houses of 85 square, geometrically arranged huge garden.

4. Khaas Mahal – An immaculate  white marble palace.

5. Musamman Burj -  the Musamman Burj built by Shah Jahan.

6. Golden Pavilions - These pavilions are typically associated with Shah Jahan's daughters - Roshanara and Jahanara Begum.

7. Sheesh Mahal – It is also called theGlass palace. Opposite towards the Musamman Burj and just below the Diwan-I-Khaas hall could be the Sheesh Mahal. It have two massive hall of equal size.

8. Diwan-i-Khaas  To the right of Sheesh Mahal is Diwan-I-Khaas, the hall of Non-public Audience. Presently entry isn't allowed within Diwan-I-Khaas

9. Hammam-i-Shahi -  The shaw hammam, also called ghusl-khanah, was originally built by akbar and was renovated by shah jahan. It was seriously an "air-conditioned"apartment.

10. Macchhi Bhawan -  the Macchhi Bhawan  is an opposite side the Diwan-I-Khaas

11. Diwan-i-Aam - - This palace was built by the mughal king Shah Jehan . Diwan-i-Am the Hall of Public Audience.

12. Nagina Masjid -  Nagina Masjid built by the Mughal king Shan Jehan. This beautiful masjid is built for her younger sister. Under the Nagina Majid ,it was  Mina Bazaar for that women to create purchases in the marble balcony over.

13. Moti Masjid -  The Moti Masjid also called Pearl Mosque. Moti masjid is situate on the north side of Diwan-i-Am. This Mosque constructed between 1648-54.

14. Mina Masjid – meena masjid is produced bye shah jahan for non public use. Meena masjid means  “heavently  Mosque”
