Shrinathji Temple in Nathadwara

SHRINATHJI TEMPLE

The Shrinathji temple, Nathdwara is dedicated to Lord Krishna. It is a Hindu temple. The temple of SHRINATHJI at Shri Nathadwara was built in the year 1728. Nathdwara means “gate of the Lord” or “doorway to the Lord. In the temple we can see a unique image of a lord Krishna, which has been made a single piece of black marble. Lord Shrinathji Temple is considered as a main pilgrimage centre by Vaishnavas. It is located in Nathdwara, approximately 48km to the north of Udaipur.

Shrinathji Temple was also known as the House of Nanda. It is also called Shrinath ji ki Haveli, meaning House of Shrinathji because like a regular household it had a chakki, baithak, ashvashala, chariot for movement, Doodhghar, Paanghar, Mishrighar and Pedaghar, Phoolghar, Rasoighar, Gahnaghar and a Kharcha bhandaar.

The temple has three entrances:- 1. Red door, 2. Surajpol, 3 Kamal chock

History of Shree Nath ji, Nathdwara:- At the time of Mughal emperor Aurangzeb reign image of Lord Krishna was brought to Mewar for the sake of protection. The chariot carrying the image stuck here, hence a temple was set up at Nathdwara with the consent of the Rana of Mewar.

Many religious festivals are celebrated at the temple like- Janamastmi, Phooldoll and Deepawali .The annakoot is the famous festival that celebrate in this temple

1. Mangla darshan - 5:30 to 06:15am

2. Shringar darshan - 7:30 to 08:00am

3. Gwal darshan - 9:15 to 09:30am

4. Rajbhog darshan - 11:30 to 12:15pm

5. Uthanpan darshan - 3:40 to 04:00pm

6. Bhod darshan - 4:30 to 04:50pm

7. Arti darshan - 5:00 to 06:00pm

8. Shayan darshan - 7:00 to 08:30pm
