The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) has extended the date for the public to exchange their pre-2005 bank notes till December 31, 2015.

It is easy to identify pre-2005 notes, as they do not have the year of printing on the reverse side of note. In the notes issued after 2005, the year of printing is visible at the bottom of the reverse side of note.

Those exchanging the notes will get the full value of the money in return.

Deposit the old design notes in their bank accounts or exchange them at a bank branch convenient to them.

The central bank said that the bank notes ( Indian notes ) can be exchanged for their full value.

RBI also clarified that all pre-2005 Indian notes continue to remain legal in future but recommended to change so people can get more secure new notes.

Also came to know that RBI guided banks to stop depositing pre-2005 banknotes in ATM and give to public from bank cash counter.
